    Master Chef Competition

“No one is born a great cook, one learns by doing.”- Julia Child.

Master Chef Competition was organized for the students of Class IV which witnessed the enthusiastic participation from the students. Cooking is an art because it involves all aspects of life, which needs to be nurtured in a child. Cooking boosts self-confidence and personal development.
Through this competition, students experienced the idea of tasting, smelling and creativity. They prepared yummy and lip-smacking dishes which were the healthier alternatives to junk food and displayed fantastic presentation of their culinary skills. Our budding chefs also spoke about the dish they prepared and its nutritional value.  The cooking competition created a lot of buzz among children. Green Colour Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the Pre-Primary wing. Bubbling with enthusiasm in their astonishing green costumes the little ones created a pleasant, harmonious and refreshing aura. The day began with a Show and Tell activity in connection with the color Green. The children spoke about color and they named the vegetables, fruits and other things that they see in their environment which are green in colour. The classrooms were beautifully decorated in the green theme and all the green objects from a child’s immediate surroundings were brought to the classrooms. Activities and games pertaining to the green colour were organised for the kids. The shades of green filled the air with freshness, thrill, ecstasy and bliss. It also prompted them to think about how green colour energizes and revitalizes our lives. It was indeed an invigorating, reviving and rejuvenating experience….!! “Mothers love – a brilliant GEM to be treasured.”

“Mothers love   – a brilliant GEM to be treasured.” Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.”

The day that recognizes the essence of a mother was celebrated in high spirits and merriment. This being one of those occasions that none of us can afford to miss was zealously enjoyed by one and all. The children irrespective of nationalities, castes, cultures and genders have emotions binding them to their mothers.
Keeping this bonding emotion in mind, the Pre - Primary section of The Shikshiyan School had a special celebration on mother’s day with lots of fun activities and some memorable performances. Tiny tots came up with their presentation of songs, rhymes and dance to convey gratitude to their mothers for their unconditional love. The mothers and students had a splendid time together in various fun games planned by the teachers. It was a pleasure watching the super excited mothers with their dynamic and energetic children during these activities. Mothers carried back home a little token of love made by their kids which filled the air with heart-warming feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation.
It was indeed a great experience and a perfect blend of emotions and feelings.
WISHING ALL THE MOTHERS, A VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.

          MATHEMATICS ACTIVITY

Using puzzles is a great way to learn Math facts, develop mental calculation and thinking skills in a fun and easy way. Maths Brain Teasers and Puzzles help the children to apply and practice their Math skills to solve a range of challenges and number problems. Quizzes & Puzzles exercise students' critical thinking skills while providing needed practice in maths, spelling, and other areas of the curriculum. Puzzles develop memory skills, as well as an ability to plan, test ideas and solve problems. Quizzes are intended to encourage fun learning methods while also enhancing general knowledge. Students can "think outside the box" or form diverse perspectives by participating in quiz tournaments.

They can support differentiation and provide pre-teaching indicators, assessment for learning, rich feedback, self-assessment and summative information about progress.

To enhance the subjective knowledge of students, The Shikshiyan School organised Maths Activities (Word Search of Number names & Guess the Number) for Grade II –III. Students participated heartily and enjoyed the activity. It helped them to gain more confidence and learn to get along with others.

            STORY TELLING COMPETITION
A wise man once said, “After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” It’s the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of our physical world and into the land of fairies, dragons and wishing trees. Storytelling has been an integral part of our childhood. To keep the tradition going, to incite curiosity and the love for reading in children, a storytelling competition was organised for class I students. The young, enthusiastic storytellers armed with their props came forth with wonderful tales.
The stories were adjudged on the basis of the expression, confidence, creativity and presentation skills of the children. The little storytellers won everyone`s heart and were applauded.

              ORIENTATION DAY

"A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.” An Orientation programme for the new set of parents of session 2023-24 was organized to get them acquainted with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school. Parents were welcomed with the Tilak as per Hindu custom, followed by the registration process. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp followed by the welcome address. The major objective of the programme was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the course, the rules and regulations of the school and ensure parental participation in monitoring the performance and progress of students. Scholastic and co-scholastic activities were also discussed which gave the parents an idea of the curriculum which is self-directed with hands-on learning activities that not only give our students a medium to fully utilize their creative talents and energies, but also help them in their all-round development. The teachers, who are the heart of any education system, were introduced to the parents. Some important parenting tips were also shared with the parents for the mental and emotional well-being of the students.
This was followed by words of wisdom from the Chairman of the school, Mr. Mukul Dagar who shared the vision, way of working of the School and requisite participation of parents & school for a better future for students.
Ms. Anisha presented a vote of thanks to all the guests. Programme was concluded with National Anthem followed by high tea.
The orientation programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school to educate the parents to look after and guide their children in a proper manner. It also helped in evolving a common teaching strategy and helped the parents in identifying suitable follow up methods to reinforce the learning process of their children.
